The South Texas Talent Commission (STTC) is a constituent organization of the BSPA.  Its principal goal is to provide our most promising artists some of the tools and opportunities needed to pursue a career in the Entertainment Industry in general and the Performing Arts in particular.

It does so by conducting a comprehensive talent search in the South Texas Region, selecting the best acts of each genre, and presenting them live in a gala showcase concert. Incentives for artists to participate include:

Click for more on the Imagen Foundation!STTC came into being through an initiative of U.S. Congressman Solomon Ortiz (D-Corpus Christi) and the prestigious Imagen Foundation of Hollywood, California, a non-profit organization founded in 1983 by Helen Hernandez with support from the Norman Lear Foundation. Its goal is to influence the positive image and increase career opportunities for Latinos in the Entertainment Industry.

The South Texas 2002 Talent Showcase was held on the evening of Saturday, April 13, 2002 at the Jacob Brown Auditorium in Brownsville, Texas.  It was truly a night to remember!

This year, STTC selected eleven acts in as many genres, representing the best in Ballet, Opera, Classical Piano, Classical Guitar, Mariachi, Conjunto Pop, Conjunto Fusion, Funk Jazz, Rock en Español, Alternative and Salsa that the STTC could find in the South Texas Region.

All acts that performed at the Showcase are automatically considered Winners of STTC's prestigious "Best of South Texas 2002 Award" in their individual genre or category!

We congratulate each and every one of them for a great show and for their high degree of professionalism.  It takes poise and courage to perform under such pressure and STTC is very proud of them!
